Nitronic 60 Stainless Steel Bar Best Stainless is happy to provide our customers with the high-quality, all-purpose, alloy Nitronic® 60 stainless steel bar, often called N-60. Nitronic® 60 is fully austenitic steel and is well suited for applications that require excellent resistance to galling and wear owing to its silicon and manganese content. It maintains this resistance even when annealed or after extensive cold-working and is considerably cheaper than similarly resistant nickel or cobalt-based alloys. This means it is appropriate for highly critical applications such as expansion joints in bridges and is one of the most cost-effective materials for any high-wear context, such as bearings, valves, or wear rings in vertical centrifugal pumps. Best Stainless can provide custom pump shafts when provided with the specifications for your project.

We can provide Nitronic® 60 in an array of different stainless steel bar and rod stock shapes. If your project requires longer-length stock, know that we are capable of providing the industry's best long stock in 20-28' R/L.

Our Nitronic 60 stainless steel bar comes in a range of grades and shapes used for many applications. We have an extensive stock of shapes including Nitronic 60 stainless steel round bar, hex bar, flat bar, and square bar, as well as boat shaft and pump shaft.

Nitronic® 60 Stainless Steel Bar Characteristics

The Nitronic® 60 stainless steel can maintain performance with intermittent exposure to temperatures up to 1800°F, making it useful for automotive valves and other potentially high-heat situations.

Nitronic® 60 is also highly resistant to corrosion, with a resistance somewhere between 304 and 316 stainless steel, while having nearly double the yield strength of both these steels. While 316 stainless steel may be somewhat more corrosion resistant, Nitronic® 60 has superior resistance to chloride pitting, as well as stress and crevice corrosion, making it more suitable for marine applications than 316. Additionally, its oxidation resistance is comparable to 309 stainless steel and it has excellent low-temperature impact resistance.
